A normal level of this substance is very important for children and adolescents, as well as for athletes and women — especially those who want to preserve the youth of the body longer. What kind of hormone is this, what is its role in the body and where you can get tested for it — read our article.

Today human growth hormone injection is involved in many organic processes — metabolism (proteins, fats, carbohydrates), regulation of water balance, and is also directly related to the growth of the body. Therefore, the peak of its concentration in the body occurs in childhood, when the child is growing rapidly. If there is not enough growth hormone in the baby’s body, he will lag behind his peers in this parameter, and sometimes a deficiency of somatotropin can even cause problems in overall development.

IMPORTANT! An excess of hormone in a child’s body can also lead to troubles – in this case, the body’s growth will occur much more intensely than is normally necessary. A person with excess somatotropin usually continues to grow after puberty, which can lead to gigantism and/or acromegaly — pathological abnormalities that significantly worsen the quality of life.

Consequently, hormone is produced most actively during the period from birth to the end of puberty. However, a normal level of somatotropin is extremely important for adults, because without it, normal processes of bone tissue formation, maintaining muscle tone, and proper metabolism are impossible.
Why growth hormone is also called the “youth hormone”

According to the results of some studies, somatotropin is able to rejuvenate the body both from the outside and from the inside. The first experiment concerning this property of growth hormone was conducted back in the 80s of the last century by immunologist Gregory Fahey. As a result, it was found that somatropin can rejuvenate the body’s cells, literally “turning back time.”

IMPORTANT! Growth hormone also has a negative side effect — it can promote the growth of tumors already existing in the body (both benign and malignant). Therefore, if a test for somatotropin shows its elevated level, it is recommended to undergo a medical examination for the presence of tumors.
Where to get somatotropin if there is a deficiency?

The level of this hormone fluctuates depending on the time of day. Its highest concentration in the body is during sleep. This means that in order to maintain normal growth hormone production, you need to get enough sleep, and you should go to bed no later than 22 hours.

Moderate physical overload also increases the level of somatotropin. And so that the production of the hormone does not “subside” longer, you cannot give up animal protein in your food (meat, fish). The fact is that the secretion of somatotropin increases “in response” to the presence of special amino acids contained in protein.

After consulting with your doctor, you can start taking somatotropin in the form of tablets or injections. Growth hormone-based drugs are sold not only in pharmacies, but also in stores for athletes.
